review it last week during the tutorial. Also there will be a presentation of artist resources on the internet.

Afternoon class: Meet in DUMBO at 2:15. Meet at the General Store Cafe which is next door to the Gallery Building, 111 Front Street. Take the A/C to High Street/Brooklyn Bridge, or the F to York Street. From either train, walk downhill toward the river to Front Street.

See the Fred Tomaselli exhibition, 5th floor, and the "SEductive Subversion: Women in Pop Art" show on the 4th floor of the museum. In the Botanic Garden see the Patrick Dougherty sculpture/installation in the Plant Family Collection near Magnolia Plaza.

Ways to get to the museum:
Walking: from Pratt walk down Washington
to Eastern Parkway where you'll see the museum.

Other options: take the B69 on Vanderbilt to Grand Army Plaza, walk up
Eastern Parkway to the museum.

Take the B38 to Hoyt Street, walk one block to Fulton and take the 2/3 Brooklyn

Wednesday, October 20th my Pratt seminar students have a special invitation from curator David Gibson to attend the group "Critical Edge" at the gallery Art Jail, on the edge of the Lower East Side and Chinatown, where the group show "Lost Horizons" is showing. This is a critique group engaged in discussion about art and issues of the day. The address is 50 Eldridge Street, 6th floor, between Canal and Hester Streets, starting at 7:00 PM. There is an elevator to get up there.

The nearest subway is the F to East Broadway, walk west 3 blocks and north 1/2 a block, there will be gray metal doors, take the elevator to the 6th floor. You can also take the B or D train to Grand Street, walk east on Grand for 2 blocks, south on Eldridge for 1 1/2 blocks. The phone number at Artjail is 646-666-8550.


Next Thursday the morning class will be going to 57th Street Galleries: meet in classroom at 9:30 sharp, or let me know if you will meet us at Pace Gallery, 32 East 57th Street about 10:15ish.

The afternoon class will meet at the Museum of Art and Design on 8th Avenue between 58th and 59th streets at 2PM.

David Gibson is a native-born New Yorker and art world denizen. He began his post-college career as a critic writing for Cover, NY ARTS, Zingmagazine, Flash Art, and Performing Arts Journal. He has also worked in galleries and museums in various capacities. (from Blogger.com posting) He is now a curator, writer and founder of "Article Projects." He is curatorial advisor for 532 Gallery Thomas Jaeckel and recently produced the exhibition "Some Are Painting" for that gallery. He also curated "Painting with Pictures" at the Casita Maria Center for Arts and Education in the Bronx, a group exhibition addressing current diverse and innovative uses of collage.
